A little Captain Organic at my local supermarket
by / September 15, 2006

Not too long ago we linked to Ross Lovegrove @ TEDTALKS where he talked about his views on design; among the items he presented in his slideshow was this fluid bottle design. Like many a design shown on this website, I thought I’d probably never see it outside of a special event or show, so imagine my surprise when I saw it at my local supermarket (P&A on Fort for Montreal readers). It was designed for Ty Nant in the UK, and the bottle really does look like the rendering in Lovegrove’s slide. Sometimes from render to product a design gets, let’s say, watered down, but not this one. Holding the bottle is actually a memorable experience, and looking through the bottle at your hand is like watching it submerged in a stream. OK, it’s a bottle of water. Buy them for your designer friends, they’ll appreciate it.

i love the 1,5L sized bottles a lil better. awesome design for awesome water

I tried this water last year because of the bottle. It was very refreshing! And you can get it in Texas at Central Market

this is really old news isnt it? that bottle is 3 years old or so now and has been available in even most chain supermarkets.

Jim, yup, it's old news. I was simply making the connection between Ross Lovegrove's slideshow at TEDTALKS and my seeing the bottle in question at my local supermarket (I hadn't seen it before).

I love that this bottle has structure yet looks like it could crumple in your hand.

I already seen the same design @ TW
