Splash Bowl
by / September 20, 2006

Sculptor Jeff Zimmerman designed this Splash Bowl as part of a collection called Soft Explosion for Steuben Glass. The series is inspired by the photography of Dr. Harold Edgerton, the inventor of flash photography and his images that “revealed what the unaided human eye had never before witnessed: evidence of a universe of energy, form and pattern beyond sight but ever-present, miraculous.”. Zimmerman's Soft Explosion consists of six designs and an additional series of one-of-a-kind objects that include vases, bowls and centerpieces. Says the artist; “essentially, my work is a narrative of such moments in glass – phenomena of explosive patterns that occur in Nature”. Images courtesy Jay Zukerkorn for Steuben Glass.
