Lördag på måndag (Saturday on Monday)
by Harry / March 15, 2007

Staffan & Johannes sent us Lördag på måndag, Saturday on Monday, a lamp that combines elements that are accepted on the dinner table with those that are usually not. Says Staffan; "Why is it that food table lamps are all hang from the ceiling? This was our starting point in this project. The name sprang from the cosy feeling that families get on Saturday when its time to spend quality time with the whole family. Fix some good food and drinks, light some candles and have a cosy evening. This lamp is a tribute to those moments.". After the jump Symbiosis answers the question "What would a dinner table lamp be without a dinner table?".

Symbiosis. "What would a dinner table lamp be without a dinner table? This interesting relationship is the theme for this concept. We made the table and the lamp into a true unit where one cannot function without the other.

"Why is it that food table lamps are all hang from the ceiling?"

Because generally, the homeowner would prefer to have the table open to put the food out on when eating. It also allows for clear vision across a table, allowing the guests and family to communicate without having to talk over or across a gigantic lamp.

I initially thought about the whole "clear table" theory posited above, but then I rememberd the ridiculousness of many "centerpieces" I have eaten near. At least this item is functional, rather than a mound of fake flowers- although... I'm guessing a cord running off a table could cause plenty of dinner mishaps among the more clumsy (myself included).
