London Design Festival: Taste MOMEnts
by sabine7 / September 26, 2008

Taste MOMEnts is a travelling exhibition of work by young designers on the Hungarian scene that landed in the crypt of Saint Martins in the Fields during the London Design Festival. Organized by the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (also known as MOME), Taste MOMEnts is a banquet of design from progressive product designers and artists and set among the café tables of the crypt, playing on the feast scenes so prevalent in European culture. The banquet table overflows with ceramics, glass, graphic design, jewellery, and so much more. Little Red Riding Hood has been reinterpreted in Lego and this concept applied to a picture book along the same lines. A handkerchief is attached to an aluminium ring to catch the tears of the broken-hearted. Nutcracker children share in the pain they must inflict upon the nuts. Tiny light bulbs are crocheted together to make a placemat. This Hungarian visual feast is filling, with flavour to appeal to a range of tastes.
