BKLYN DESIGNS 2009
by Harry / May 10, 2009

A big thank you to Karen Kang for sending in these images from this weekend's BKLYN DESIGNS show. The annual design event showcases local Brooklyn New York design one week prior to New York Design Week (why one week before?). Here are a few of our favorites; Takeshi Miyakawa's floating Rite Of Spring storage above, Melissa Gamwell's Medea Vase, Palo Samko's Beam Bench, Tom Winter Architects' C-Light and umproject's C-Beam Table/ Cyril Stool/ Luma Lamp and Nebu Chandelier.

Wow, these are all really great. I especially like the Nebu Chandelier, because it reuses something and turns it into something completely different, and perhaps more beautiful than the original intention. Great show!

a little cool but i have seen better in past years.....this seems a bit too 'salvage yard' nothing really groundbreaking here...

There was some killer wallpaper there this year, too! I'm obviously biased, because I was one of those wallpaper presenters, but Jill Malek and Shanan from Eskayel were amazing. It's so great seeing a wallcoverings community growing here.
