Mint Escapes: Hidden Layers by Folkform
by Jaime / September 28, 2009

The screenprinted patterns on the Peeling Wallpaper Cupboard from Folkform's Hidden Layers collection are inspired by layers of peeling wallpaper from an old council flat just outside Stockholm. The project's aim is to highlight the beauty of the aging material by transforming a surface destroyed by time and usage into another form. Charlotte Kingsnorth's Felt Up chair consisted of a flat piece of felt folded simply to "envelope the occupier, lulling them into a state of relaxation." Also seen at Mint Escapes were some interesting tables in terms of shape, texture and layers.
