X-Ray Fabric by Rita Parniczky
by Jaime / October 30, 2009

What if we could x-ray woven fabrics? Rita Parniczky's X-Ray Fabric visualizes this idea by making invisible layers of woven fabric visible using transparent mono-filament yarns.

The project was inspired by a vast collection of photographs and photograms which give the illusion of x-ray films.

The hand-woven collection is semi-transparent and plays with both artificial and natural light; the pieces create shadows and otherwise hidden layers within the fabric become visible.

And how do we implement materials that are doomed to disposal into useful design?
