Jill Greenberg used monkeys as the subject of her photographs over a five-year period. Over thirty different primates were involved, culled from about twenty different species. The focus was on their expressions and this sample shows just how close we are to these intelligent mammals. Wince is an expression we’d recognize in ourselves, if only we had our eyes open while doing it. Yikes is a good reflection of an every day moment and Hatchling has that bewildered look of the very, very young.
