Alessandra Exposito puts a domestic spin on mounted trophies by using horses as the objects of My First Love, in an exhibition of the same name. The artist paints horse skulls, adding embellishments and mixed media antlers that take these pieces to the level of fetish objects. Carrots and horseshoes hang off the animal that was friend, pet and worker, in the barnyard and on the range. The pièce de résistance is the complete skeleton that almost blends right into its surroundings despite the sculpted birds and flowers that adorn it.
