The aquarium is thermoformed to create a space where a bird in the cage below can fly in and be at the same visual level as the fish. More at Specimen.

Nice looking, however…the use of small ball shaped aquariums is banned (in Germany) or at least heavily rejected by fish enthusiasts as the shape and cleaned up looks of the classic fish bowl doesn't give the fish the possibility to find any orientation points in this habitat apart from the closed round form blurring their depth perception organ
